Three Recommendations for Your Child’s Safe Space

Three Recommendations for Your Child’s Safe Space

I believe in the safe space for kids.
In fact, if I’m honest, I believe every adult should have one too.

But today, let’s keep it to the children.

A safe space is not about decoration. It’s not about trends. It’s not about having the “perfect” setup. It is about intention.

It is a deliberate decision to create a corner — physical or emotional — where a child can pause without fear, breathe without judgment, and feel without being corrected.

So what do we stock in this safe space?

The choices are endless. There is no single correct formula. Every child is wired differently. What soothes one may not soothe another. What comforts one may overwhelm another.

That’s why I always encourage parents and educators to think thoughtfully, not reactively.

In the video I’ve shared, I walk you through my top three recommendations — meaningful tools that make a real difference.

And to make it easier for you to start (or refine) your own safe space, I’ve included a downloadable document — a Safe Space Resource List.

This is a practical list you can print and use to:
• Plan what you want to include
• Write down what you already have
• Identify what you may want to add
• Thoughtfully stock your space with intention

It’s not about buying everything.
It’s about choosing wisely.

Because when a child knows there is a place where they are safe to feel —
they grow braver everywhere else.
